Opinions on Deltaville marinas?
We're thinking about buying a boat and keeping it in Deltaville, VA. Any ideas about the marinas there?

Re: Opinions on Deltaville marinas?
I'm at Stingray Harbor. Nearly all sailboats, very well weather-protected, quiet with nice facilities (several clean bathhouses, pool, pumpout). No boatyard facilities, though there's an excellent full-service yard adjacent to the marina (Shroeder Yacht Systems), and fuel just down the creek at Norview Marina (all powerboat, so pumps a lot of diesel). Stingray is on the Rappahannock side of Deltaville at Broad Creek, so Bay access is better - takes me 15 minutes to the mouth of the river. Check out their website at www.stingrayharbor.com.

Love Deltaville
We sail there twice every summer for a week to ten days, hanging out at Dozier's Regatta Point Marina and venturing from there to Tides Inn, Urbanna, etc.
Doziers is fabulous and just inside Broad Creek, so it gets good breezes on hot days.
Further up is Deltaville Yacht Center, a Catalina dealership, but it's a little hot in summer.
Stingray Harbor has magnificent sailboats and is a quick run out to the river and Bay.
Deltaville Marina on the south side is an Island Packet dealer with most motorboats but neatly tucked away from nor'easters.
Across the water from DM is Fishing Bay Yacht Club, the class act of the place and they encourage memberships.
There are other marinas, but you get the idea. Think of it as Rock Hall South.
Suggest you drive down some weekend and check them out.

Re: Opinions on Deltaville marinas?
the ONLY down to Deltaville is the narrow and shallow (but well marked) channel out to the river, else everything else is great. You can walk or bicycle to the shopping area from almost anywhere you keep the boat, and there are two west/boat us stores to choose from in addition to all the other options for parts or repairs.
best of luck
